Hurrah! I'm a Failure!

A slightly rambling post on the nature of why failure is key to success.

It also strikes me that this theory holds true for musical instruments and performance - so much of our musical experience is through studio-produced recordings which massage an individual's performance electronically to be *perfect*. This means that we often hold ourselves to standards which quite simply DO NOT EXIST. It's OK to sing out of tune. It's OK to not be able to play an instrument, really it is. Because everyone has bad days, and everyone sings off-key sometimes. I have bootlegs of some *incredibly* sucky moments...

In other words, get out there and live life fully, without wondering if you are good enough.

Because I'm here to say, "You are wonderful, and just the perfect amount of "good enough" to contribute to the world today."

Sing! Play! Make a cake! And do it joyfully, without consideration of what you'll do if it doesn't turn out perfectly :-)

Somewhat off topic - but I've noticed you have pictures in your other blog, and wondered what sources you use for pics that can be freely used for that sort of thing. Not that I'm planning to start a serious blog, but occasionally I could really use a picture or two for presentations ... what resources do you use?
