We've got a wireless access in our house. Mostly I use the laptop, so it makes sense.
Of course, the flaw in this plan is that our house is quite long and thin, and is really quite old. It's certainly been here since 1750 - back when people knew how to build a wall. Properly. Thickly. Impervious-to-wireless-signals-ly. So our wireless network is brilliant in the kitchen and upstairs, where the signal is only impeded by some floorboards, some carpet and a thin layer of playmobil. However, it is really pretty rubbish at making it into the living room, (where our Macintosh lives). This means that we haven't used the Macintosh nearly as much as the cost of it should have warranted.
After shrieking my despair to the hills this weekend, Tim went out to Maplin and bought some networking cable, wallboxes and errr... other bits of electrical frippery.
Tonight, before tea, he put me in a proper network between our router and the Macintosh.
It works!
My husband is a genius.
And he looks really good in medieval thigh-boots.
All hail my husband :-)

That's what men are made for: solving their wife's hardware problems.
