...checking whether the baby is asleep whilst actually *playing* the melodeon, is not necessarily a good idea.

Because the answer to "is the baby asleep" under these circumstances is, I think, almost always going to be "Probably Not".

Have you *heard* a melodeon? I trust in my children's ability to sleep through most things. I think the melodeon comes in a close second to the bagpipes in terms of "loud and intrusive" :-D

Good news is that I don't think she was asleep in the first place, but I was very amused to see that Tim answered my call of "can you check whether she's asleep or not?" by just wandering up the stairs with the melodeon still playing...

The way things are going in my house, by the time my kids are grown they will be unable to sleep *without* the dulcet tones of the melodeon in the background. Preferably a Pokerwork.
