A Good Idea from Talis (tm)

Which proved to be totally and completely inspired. I am off to the Post Office today to post my first sale!

Hmmmm.

I might try selling off our duplicate books and CDs via Amazon, since the search and browse system is a sight better than Ebay's and I think people would find them quicker. Not sure I'd go over to them for selling all my junk though - I object to the way they tell you to put their branding on your parcels. Plus a lot of waht I sell is clothes, which don't exactly fit Amazon's remit :)

It's a cracking CD, and well worth the dosh. It might be worth buying directly from her, though, and save some commission!

You can buy direct? I didn't find a clickybutton on her website. Do I have to, like, *talk* to people? ;-)

Email/write to her at the address under the "Shops" button on her website. I'm sure she'd be happy to do it direct - saves time and money all round!

What a model of domestic virtue she is.

I was most impressed by how very quick it was to list things, and by the fact that I listed my item at 5.30pm and had sold it by midnight. Fabbo! I wouldn't have really thought about it if it weren't for her recommendation, though.

It was a great way to sell off a bunch of textbooks I had around the house.

So how does this work in practice? You list it on Amazon, someone buys it from them (are these the things you see as "new and used" in their listings?) and pays them, they then pay you? And you ship it, presumably?

I think I'll probably do a step-by-step walk-through tomorrow on In-Debt Net, actually. It might prove useful, and would certainly show what was involved.

I'll post here when it is done!

Golly. What have I done? Seriously, glad you found it user-friendly too. I list everything I can on Amazon, freeing up ebay-loading time for the other stuff.

Keris, yes, that's right, you get a 'sold' email from Amazon with the despatch noet in, and you bung it in teh post. Amazon handles the payment and then pays you direct. For media with a number on, it works. Lark, I'm away ten days, I can send you stuff when I'm back from the trip - remind me, if you're interested.

All the best with the new site, StevieAnnie!

I even managed to get my mum onto this - having retired as a teacher, she needed to sell off a collection of German books she wasn't going to use any more, plus some UK text books. Text books in the UK Amazon site, and the German books on amazon.de. Sure, they take their whack, but so would any other retailer. First time she'd ever sold anything online, and she found it very easy to use.

Very much worth it for anything selling at 5GBP or above - gets a lot less worth it for less than that, as you don't make much at all after the Amazon fee. I tend to look at what prices others are selling the same thing for - if you have 99 sellers with the book on the market for 0.01, then its a good time to find the local charity shop!
