Weird...

Just picked up the post. Found something addressed to Anne - that would be Anne Whitaker, bandmate of mine in two different bands, godmother to my daughter and purveyor of rhubarb crumbles to the masses (and subsequent guitar destruction).

I did a doubletake.

This is a different Anne Whitaker. Who lives at the same address line as me (ie: same number house, same road name), just in the local postal city (Lincoln) instead of my village (which gets the city address line of "Nr. Lincoln").

How weird is that?

Reminds me of finding the minibus Phoenix had taken to Filkcontinental at Blackenheim parked two cars behind ours on the ferry to Filkcontinental the following year... Made more so as it was a different ferry in a different port!

And come to think of it, that was hired by Anne...

I regularly get mail to a very similar street address (same number but Place rather than Glade) in Harthill, Stratchclyde. Because apparently both addresses look the same to the machines doing the sorting, even when there is a very clearly typed postcode. If I write a note on the letter suggesting the post office try the correct town several hundred miles away, but forget to strike through the machine printed lines on the front of the envelope, I get it back complete with my little note on the front saying it has been sent to the wrong address.
