What's with this weather, then?

I'll tell you. It's our fault. We're pouring our foundations today, so *of course* it is going to be a series of huge blizzards. Silly us for thinking otherwise.

Exciting/disturbing comment of the day came from our concrete waterproofing man (who looks *exactly* like season 5 Garibaldi, I'm telling you) who said, "I see no reason why you couldn't have the roof on in 3 weeks."

Really? I can't believe it myself, but anything *like* that timescale would be very exciting indeed! Of course, there is a whole bunch of work still to be done after the roof is on - external brickwork, electrics, plumbing, joinery, windows, doors etc. But having a structure I can walk into? Pretty darned exciting, I can tell you!

I remember when they did our extension that for the first few weeks it made visible progress pretty much every day - foundations, walls, rafters. So a few weeks, why not indeed! And yes, it is a big thrill when you walk into it for the first time and start to imagine what it'll be like.

Then they get into fiddly inside stuff and it takes forever, but that might just be our builders (who said 3 months and took over 6, or something like that!).

I guess that in a sense I am lucky to have a certain amount of knowledge about what is involved in this kind of undertaking. 6 months seems to be a reasonable assumption. I'm *hoping* to be in the new house for Christmas 2007, but I'm not going to be devastated if it doesn't happen.

Our job will also be enlongated by dint of the fact that my guys need to take on additional jobs to keep the cashflow situation healthy.

We'll be in when we're in, I guess :-) But I could really live without the blinding blizzards whilst we're trying to pour the concrete...

Look on the bright side... This cold weather and blizzards could be knonck on effects of Hell freezing over.

In which case you might have the roof on in three weeks
