Well, probably...
Sep. 21st, 2008 03:18 pmThere *may* be better ways to spend a late summer, sunny Friday evening than dressing up in custom-made (by someone else) medieval clothes and poncing about a stately home owned by a friend of your husband whilst being filmed and talking to interesting people. I'm not at ALL sure what it might be though. In the Walker philosophy, it was pretty darned perfect.
The latest project of the film crew that we did "The Luttrell Psalter" for is a study of the medieval age through the lens of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. If I say that there was a beautiful, long-red-haired girl in a boat, drifting over a lake at twilight whilst singing, you might be able to guess both the poem and painting that we worked on.
It was *magical*. Carp were leaping out of the water after the flies and the estate was completely still, and at the end of the filming, the young girl in the boat sang as she drifted towards the pier. Even the birds stopped chirruping to listen to her and it was incredible.
I am still not entirely sure how I managed to fall on my feet with these people, but I am very glad I did, as I am getting the opportunities to do things that I had never dreamed of.
Now, if I could just persuade the extremely talented wardrobe mistress to allow me to steal my gown and surcoat, I would be very happy indeed!
