TV tonight...
Aug. 11th, 2006 10:09 amHey guys - if you happen to be watching tv tonight, or can spare a phone call, check out "Restoration Village" tonight on the BBC.
It features All Saints' Church at Beckingham, which is a parish church in our group parish, just up the road from here. It's been abandoned for years and years, and the parishioners have had to resort to worshipping in the village hall and people's front rooms for a long time now. If we won "Restoration Village", we would be really chuffed to have (a) saved a gorgeous building from ruination and (b) have a centre of worship again.
Everyone in the parish has been behind the restoration 101% - Tim and I have played there to raise funds, and our lovely vicar, Alan, has held a vigil there - everyone in the group of parishes lined the church with hundreds and hundreds of candles in red holders - the church *glowed* like magic all night. But there is a limit to how deep local people can reach in their own pockets, and we could really do with a bit of help...
