Just finished a quick meeting with the headmaster of my local Primary (and when I say local, I mean LOCAL - it's about 30 yards from my front door) to confirm my appointment as the Music Teacher for the new term. The funding is in place, and there is enough to employ me from September to April with the caveat "if I can see that you are achieving good things, then I'll just *find* the money for the rest of the year from somewhere!".
I'm feeling incredibly upbeat and cheerful about the whole process, and am looking forwards to teaching lots of smalls about music :-)
He looked at my lesson plan and approved it straight-off, even mentioning that he thought he might like to join in with a few sessions. How cool is that? I am hoping to put together a recorder consort and a choir within the first term, with a heavy concentration on seasonal songs and dance tunes.
Life is pretty good today!
