Advice sought from flying knitters...

I'm guessing that I'm not going to be allowed to take metal knitting needles onto a plane. Does anyone know if I can take bamboo ones? Or a crochet hook? I mean *I* know that I'm not about to effect the fall of western civilisation with a crochet hook, but how are airport security likely to feel? Because if I can knit/crochet and listen to an audio book for 8 hours, I'm likely to be a pretty stress-free Annie by the end of my OVFF flight. Otherwise, I'm likely to be a bit... antsy.
