Happy Birthday Lissa!

Everyone should have at least one friend who you can cry with, laugh with and ring up randomly to discuss absolutely nothing, and yet spend an hour talking about it.

You do so much for everyone around you, and ask so little in return that I often wonder how you manage it.

You're a daily inspiration to me, and I'm so proud to call you my friend.

Inspiration in the oddest places...

Further to the comments yesterday, I sat in Rika's set with a notebook which was mostly shut as I was swept up in the music that she and her band made at 2t0nic.

Except for one point, a Dougie MacClean song which really made me think.

Whoever thought that Dougie MacClean was singing about personal finance!?!

My Valentine's Day

I'm ambivalent to Valentine's Day.

I'm happily married, and have been that way for many years, and fully expect to continue in the same vein until either Tim or I pop our clogs.

Having said that, I'm not so big on Valentines. We don't buy cards, not because we think it's over-commercialised twaddle, but because mostly we can't be bothered. I can always be bothered to show him I love him, but sometimes my enthusiasm for a shopping trip based around getting just a card is somewhat dim.

Last night I lit the log-burner, and we watched silly tv and ate chocolate together. Then I gave him a backrub, and he rubbed my feet.

Our Valentine's gift to each other? A concrete floor for the new house :-) Because what else says "I love you" like progress on a project for your future together? No, we couldn't think of anything else either. I'm *extremely* happy with my floor, which should be here in a few weeks. It's a beam-and-block first floor, which means that we won't have squeaky floorboards and sound transference to the studio... yay!!!
