Spring cleaning my finances
Jan. 22nd, 2008 04:54 pmSome friends have been experimenting with the theory of "Getting Things Done", which intrigues me. I'm very much into time management and trying to make the most out of the time and resources that I have. Of course, finding the time to actually READ a copy of "Getting Things Done" is a bit of an issue ;-)
In the absence of a real, honest-to-goodness time-management technique, I have resorted to that old chestnut of "To Do Lists". I've got a rather lovely book and a rather lovely pen and I'm making a list of *everything* I can think of which needs doing. In fact - if you've asked me to do something and I haven't done it, let me know, and I'll add it to the list... This is helping me to see my progress and to get on top of the list of things that I really don't want to do, but really have to. Top of the list was "cottage accounts", "music accounts" and "new mortgage application" - all things which need me to dig out figures and pieces of paper and do something magical with them (well, only magical if you detest this kind of thing as much as I do - even *finding* some of the papers counts as a Catholic-ratified miracle, I'm telling you!).
In the process, I am finding that there are changes I can make to my financial arrangements which will make quite a difference.
I'm feeling all empowered and in control! Just *imagine* how I'd feel if I could actually find time to read a whole time-management book!
