I need a hat.
(Enough with the mushroom comments, already, Lissa!)
In fact, to be specific, I need two hats, suitable for wearing as part of a victorian ensemble. Not "poke bonnets" as I need to be able to hear the voice next to me whilst I am singing. Last year I had a bizarre little confection of papier-mache aubergines and frou-frou black silk ruffles. Whilst I loved it dearly, it is a bit tired and has been sat on a few too many times.
My mate, Frank (short for Frances - it needs to be a girly hat) also needs a hat, having spent the morning playing with Anne Farnsworth's garage contents and been a bit naughty with a cheque book...
Being handy sorts, we quite fancy having a go at hat-making ourselves, but can't find any useful instructions for anything other than bloomin' poke bonnets.
And, yes, I have googled "how to make victorian hats".
Anyone got any suggestions?
