Sunshine-y day...
Mar. 25th, 2007 08:48 pmSo, today the sun shone. Which means:
Annie goes gardening!
Today we got to a garden centre to buy more organic peat-free compost (I'm a hippie, I know this), and also got a nice viburnum for the cottage garden, which fills a large, currently nettle-filled, space. Being a nice, small, independent garden centre, they have a couple of playgrounds for young and older kids, so my two got to spend a while there whilst I sat and enjoyed the spring sunshine.
Once back at home the little girl next-door comes round to play with Ellie (ongoing distraction from the siren call of TV, dontcha know?), whilst I cook a chicken korma and get out in the garden.
I have managed to pot on a whole bunch of "Gardener's Delight" tomatoes, some "Long De Meziere" leeks and a couple of different kinds of lettuce. Have planted Ellie's pumpkins in the seed tray thus vacated, and small girl is now happily contemplating pumpkins for Halloween. Whole caboodle is now in the el-cheapo greenhouse, watered and debating 5 days of "sunny intervals".
Yay me :-D
