PC Help needed.
Jan. 27th, 2007 09:08 pmJared has a dektop PC running XP.
I have a spare D-Link USB Wireless adaptor left over from my "exploding router" adventure a couple of months ago. Jared is increasingly needing access to the Internet to do his homework.
So I installed the D-Link driver on his machine. Hurrah! It seemed to install OK, and then I rebooted the machine as requested by the installer. At this point it gave me the compaq welcome screen and just stuck there. No Blue Screen of Death, no change whatsoever. I tried to restart. Not responding to any keyboard commands. I turned off, waited 30 seconds and tried again. Both with and without the USB adapter (Jared thought of that one, bright child - Mother was in a flap by this time). Nothing. I tried to restart in Safe Mode, and worryingly enough it won't give me the Safe Mode.
Ack!
Any suggestions? So far I haven't tried a bloody big hammer or harsh language, but I'm out of ideas.
Help, O Hive Mind!
